Endangered animals news for Last Chance To See by Douglas Adams, Mark Carwardine and Stephen Fry

In the late 1980s, Douglas Adams, creator of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", and zoologist Mark Carwardine visited endangered animals around the world, hoping it would not be their "Last Chance To See". A BBC radio series and book followed, and for 2008 Stephen Fry is filming a TV series sequel, also with Mark Carwardine.

NEWS - Kakapo inoculations going well

Dobbie the kakapo was alive and well, Department of Conservation kakapo recovery team leader Paul Jansen reported last night.

Dobbie was the first Chalky Island kakapo to be inoculated against the deadly bacteria erysipelas, which has killed three of his comrades
