Endangered animals news for Last Chance To See by Douglas Adams, Mark Carwardine and Stephen Fry

In the late 1980s, Douglas Adams, creator of "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", and zoologist Mark Carwardine visited endangered animals around the world, hoping it would not be their "Last Chance To See". A BBC radio series and book followed, and beginning September 6th, 2009, a TV series sequel featuring Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine was broadcast on BBC2.

Flamingos: Another Google Maps super-zoom

Here's another Google Maps super-zoom, into one of my favourite National Geographic African Mega-Flyover images. A huge flock of flamingos! Scroll up a little to the NNW and you'll see a boat with about seven or eight people aboard, and at the south of the image tile you'll also see the tail end of the plane's shadow.
